    First Year Seminar Peer Mentors

    First-Year Seminar (FYS) peer mentors play a vital role in acclimating incoming first-year students to the rigors of college life. Peer mentors can be a major influence on the educational goals and successful transition of new students to the College.

    FYS peer mentors discuss a myriad of topics that are academic, professional, and personal to new students. They help first-year students explore factors involving adjusting to college culture, planning a course of study, selecting a career, and much, much more.

    Requirements to Become a First Year Seminar Peer Mentor

    • A minimum 2.8 GPA
    • Possess strong communication and organizational skills.
    • Mandatory participation in bi-weekly supervision meetings, convocation day, and training days.
    • Must be in good academic standing with the college.
    • Strong ability to communicate with leaders and students via email.
    • Ability to assist with class discussions and maintain classroom organization.

    How to Apply

    • Answer short essays about your interest in the role.
    • Participate in a group and an individual interview.
