Professor Valerie J. Watnick, Professor and Chair of the Department of Law at the Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College, is a committed teacher and scholar. She is a graduate of Cornell Law School (JD) and holds an undergraduate degree from Bucknell University (BS in accounting). Professor Watnick has written multiple law review articles on the regulation of toxic substances to protect human health under the Lautenberg Chemical Safety Act, and the regulation of pesticides under the Food Quality Protection Act ("FQPA") and the Fungicide, Rodenticide, Insecticide Act ("FIFRA"). She has written extensively about industrial animal agriculture, climate change and more humane animal farming practices. Her work also spans related topics, including cosmetics regulation, the Organic Foods Production Act, and the regulation of polychlorinated bi-phenols or PCBs in the nation’s schools. Prof. Watnick’s most recent work on the FQPA and EPA's efforts to protect children is forthcoming in the Yale Journal of Health Policy, Law and Ethics. She has also published her work in Harvard’s Environmental Law Review, the Arizona Law Journal, the Utah Law Review, the Michigan Journal of Law Reform, New York University’s Environmental Law Journal, as well as other leading law reviews and journals.
