Professor Raj Nahata is an Associate Professor of Finance at Baruch College's Zicklin School of Business. He is also a Doctoral Faculty of CUNY's Graduate School and University Center's PhD programs in Economics and Business. At Baruch since 2004, he has taught both undergraduates and graduates including doctoral students. Intermittently, he has also trained industry executives in the intricacies of finance, particularly venture capital and private equity. He has been nominated for the Presidential Excellence Award in Teaching and is a past recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award of the Zicklin School of Business. Professor Nahata’s research interests are in empirical corporate finance with a particular emphasis on venture capital, private equity, and entrepreneurial finance. He has also researched in the areas of corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and hedge funds. His research has been published in leading finance and business journals including the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Financial Intermediation and the Journal of Corporate Finance. He has presented his research work at conferences and seminars worldwide. In addition to traditional research output, Professor Nahata has also written cases in the area of private equity. Professor Nahata obtained his PhD in Finance from Vanderbilt University, MBA from the University of Bombay, and Bachelors of Engineering in Computer Science from the MS University of Baroda, India. Prior to his doctoral studies, he had been a corporate banker and software engineer.
