Monserrat Garcia Rodenas

Montserrat García Rodenas (PhD, Georgetown University) is an Assistant Professor of Spanish and Comparative Literature. Her research and teaching interests include contemporary Iberian cultural studies, film theory, historical memory, urbanism, and environmental humanities. 

García Rodenas is currently working on her first book-length manuscript examining representations of ruined and destroyed landscapes in contemporary Peninsular Spanish narratives and visual art. Her interdisciplinary project considers how cultural representations engage with questions of environmental change and the politics of transformation of urban and rural spaces. Her research has been published in journals such as Hispanic Review, Hispanófila, Alba de América, Pasavento, among others. 

Before joining Baruch College, García Rodenas taught Spanish language and culture courses at Whitman College, Georgetown University and Auburn University.
