John E. Colón has considerable experience in human resource management, team-based management, training, organizational behavior and development, board governance, and diversity, inclusion, and equity. A lecturer, consultant, and facilitator, he seeks to motivate others through the application of group relations and systems theories as well as transactional analysis. His studies and research focus on the dynamics of a productive work environment that requires the affirmative integration and alignment of different people focusing on creating and maintaining a common mission.

Professor Colón served as the Director of Human Resource Management for 28+ years at the Episcopal Church Center, the church-wide office of the Episcopal Church. He has worked with JB Access (http://jbaccess.com) focusing on the experiences of persons with disabilities in the workplace and society. In addition to his current role as a DEI consultant in private practice and with VISIONS (www.visions-inc.org), Professor Colón serves as a full-time lecturer in the Management Department at the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College, a senior college of the City University of New York. His prior experience includes serving as an adjunct instructor at Cornell’s New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations and NYU’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies. He has served in member and leadership roles in various not-for-profit boards of directors.

In addition to degrees from Colgate and Binghamton universities, Professor Colón’s continuing education includes studies in group relations in the tradition of the Tavistock Institute with the A. K. Rice Institute, human interaction and appreciative inquiry with the NTL Institute for Applied Behavioral Science, transactional analysis with the Southeast Institute for Group and Family Therapy, and DEI consulting with VISIONS, Inc.
