Senior Matthew Feldman Wins Institutional Investor's 3rd Annual Student Analyst Competition

Baruch students Take 16 of the top 100 spots

NEW YORK, NY May 1, 2015- Baruch College students took 16 of the top 100 spots, including  #1 in Institutional Investor’s 3rd Annual Student Analyst Competition.  Matthew Feldman, a senior in the Zickin School of Business, took top honors in the competition that gives aspiring financiers access to simulated trading desks and $100,000 in virtual cash for investment. Feldman participated in the competition as part of Professor Bruce Kamich’s technical analysis class.  "Stocks like Amazon that have a superhigh P/E ratio, I stay away from," [Feldman] explains. "I'd rather invest in stocks that have high value and a lot of potential."

Over 2,000 students took part in this year’s competition. Baruch students Frederic M. Jaeck, Ka Leung Lam, Alice L. Coogan, Daniel Gorban, Saeed Ahmed, Jairo Diaz, Vinzon J. Chua, Usman Ali, Kateryna Goremykina, Alan Lisiecki, Darya Van Heertum, Karamoko Sanogo, Mariam Rabo, Johnny M. Davis and Cristian G. Moran all placed in the top 100.  Feldman observed, “The ones who do well are the ones that are more passionate about it.”

Feldman, who was described as “a die-hard value investor,” and Kamich both were quoted repeatedly in the lengthy online article, which can be read here.
