All Day NCCP9030 - The Future of Blueprint Reading (Multi-Day Event)
The word "blueprint" makes us think of white line drawings on a deep blue background showing beautiful old buildings, or ships, or historic city plans. This introductory course visits the development of blueprints within the construction industry, and shows the student what to expect in a contemporary construction drawing set, and how to understand scale and symbols in drawings. There is hands-on experience with drawing simple scaled drawings. The later lessons in this course review the place of CADD and more advanced 3-D and intelligent building modeling as "blueprints" morph in the world of e-technology.

The show will open on September 10 and run through December 1 at the New Media Artspace gallery in Baruch’s Library and Information Building, 151 E. 25th Street. While NeoGeo explores the Deep Time of the geologic record, Landfill Club, is a social practice project that "drills up" into future Deep Time.

The New Media Artspace is a teaching exhibition space in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts at Baruch College, CUNY. Housed in the Newman Library, the New Media Artspace showcases curated experimental media and interdisciplinary artworks by international artists, students, alumni, and faculty. Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan is one of the finest and most sought after sitar players of our time. His live performances have become stuff of legend, leaving audiences spellbound from New York to Kolkata. Ustadji is a 7th generation musician from the Etawa tradition and learned his craft from Ustad Aziz Khan. He is an equally gifted teacher, spreading his art from the SPK Academy of Music (www.spkacademy.org)  

 

Pandit Anindo Chatterjee has attained the pinnacle in the art of tabla playing. Trained from his early childhood by Guru Padmabhusan Jnan Prakash Ghosh, Anindoji has developed a unique style. Both technically and artistically, he is a milestone for future generations to follow. He is equally regarded as a soloist and an accompanist and has shared the stage with all the great musicians of India.

Kate Bornstein
is the original gender outlaw, and this is an evening of her favorite autobiographical spoken word pieces—her most personal stories, her favorite comic and dramatic monologues from over a quarter of a century on the stage with this material. With great love and tenderness, Kate gently guides audiences through an moving, rollicking, and ultimately uplifting journey through sex and gender beyond the binary of men-and-women-only.

Baruch Performing Arts Center presents GenderFluid, a weeklong festival of performance, film, and art by transgender and genderfluid artists, Sept. 9-13. Featured performers include Emmy-nominated Orange is the New Black star Laverne Cox, performance artist and Gender Outlaw author Kate Bornstein, Andy Warhol superstar Holly Woodlawn, stand-up comedian Ian Harvie, and more.
