Allison Curseen began teaching at Baruch in 2014, after receiving her PhD in English from Duke University.  Her research focuses on the generative intersections of blackness and childishness within American and African American literature.  Her current book project examines depictions of children's physical movements in mid- 19th century American novels within the context of antebellum anxieties about race, improper growth, and unregulated and fugitive movements.  Allison is also editing her first chapbook of poems, We Done Moved.  At Baruch Allison teaches Children's Literature, Young Adult Literature, and Writing.  Allison also holds an MFA in Creative Writing from American University and a BA from Oberlin College.
