The Benefits Unit is responsible for the coordination and administration of the core and voluntary employee benefits including, but not limited to, medical, vision, dental, prescription, retirement, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), Commuter Benefits, and tax-deferred annuities (TDA). In addition, the administration of all medical leaves of absences and workers compensation is managed within this unit. This unit acts as a liaison between the Baruch College campus, the vendors and CUNY's University Benefits Office (UBO). Furthermore, it ensures that all processes are administered in accordance with all applicable state, local and federal laws and regulations, policies and procedures and collective bargaining agreements.

New ID Cards for GHI-CBP Members

Please be reminded that new ID cards for GHI CBP were issued to all eligible members and their dependents in late June.  The new cards have an identification number that begin with the letter “K” and every dependent receives a card with their own identification number.  The new cards went into effect on July 1, 2020.  Kindly update your card with your health care and prescription providers.  Visit this link for more information.

MetroPlus Updates: New For Gold Members Effective July 1 2020!

New Provider for Transit Benefits: The transit benefit provider for CUNY has changed from WageWorks to Edenred Community Benefit Solutions this spring. Edenred information and forms are available for your review:

To suspend payroll deductions, fill out the Edenred Transit Plan Suspension Form and email it to human.resources@baruch.cuny.edu.

To suspend transit pass and parking orders, connect with Edenred directly at 833-584-8109 or online at login.commuterbenefits.com.

All WageWorks accounts will be closed on April 30th. Effective May 1, 2020, WageWorks Parking, Commuter and Transit Accounts will no longer be available for use. However, any remaining balances in those accounts will not be lost. Pre-tax monies will be posted to your Edenred account at a later date. Post-tax monies will be returned to you directly from WageWorks. Please log in to your WageWorks account and verify that all information is up to date.

FSA Updates

Dependent Child Care Assistance Program (DeCAP) participants can suspend their DeCAP deductions or lower their annual goal amount by submitting an online request to the FSA program, submit a letter via secure email, or fax a letter to (877) 290-6587.

Upon return to work, DeCAP participants can resume their deductions by notifying the FSA Program that they would like to resume. Additionally, they can submit a claim for any deductions taken already this year with eligible claim dates.

Health Plan Coverage for employees hired on or after July 1, 2019

City of New York employees, and employees of Participating Employers, hired on or after July 1, 2019, and their eligible dependents, will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan, and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.

After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365 day period. If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.

Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period.

An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted.

Transit Benefit 2020 Pre-Tax Limit Increases

The Pre-Tax limit for Transit Benefit deductions will increase from $265 a month to $270 a month (or $135 bi-weekly).
