Event Description:
Terminus, an exhibition of video works by Ira Eduardovna, curated by Katherine Behar, Assistant Professor of New Media Arts at Baruch College.

The show will open on September 25 and run through the end of the fall semester at the New Media Artspace gallery in Baruch’s Library and Information Building, 151 E. 25th Street.

The Jewish Studies Center
will host an ARTIST TALK with curator Denise Carvalho and closing reception in the Engelman Recital Hall, Baruch Performing Arts Center (BPAC), 55 Lexington Ave, on December 4 at 6 p.m.

Ira Eduardovna was born and raised in former USSR until she immigrated to Israel in 1990. She currently lives and works in New York. Eduardovna’s work reconstructs narratives of an autobiographical nature and examines issues of migration and identity, which she shows as being in flux through non-linear story telling. The collapse of the Soviet Union and the immigration wave that followed it is a phenomenon that Eduardovna investigates in her work as a personal experience and a global one: her work contemplates the loss of communist ideals that promised to lead the world to a bright future, and their disassembly and navigation in the constant search for a new place.

Gallery Hours: Monday-Thursday 9 a.m.-6 p.m.; Friday 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.; Saturday 12 p.m.-6 p.m.; Sunday closed.

The New Media Artspace is a teaching exhibition space in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts at Baruch College, CUNY. Housed in the Newman Library, the New Media Artspace showcases curated experimental media and interdisciplinary artworks by international artists, students, alumni, and faculty.
