Event Description:

The Department of Modern Languages and Comparative Literature at the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences and the Paul Andre Feit Lecture Series co-organized with the Cuban Cultural Center of NY, invite you to an illustrated presentation and lecture by
Dr. Ana María Hernández
author of a newly published annotated critical edition of
Cecilia Valdés, Cirilo Villaverde’s classic, anti-slavery, 19th-century Latin American novel. 

​P
rof. Hernández will focus on the literary representation of female subjectivity as well as issues of race and social class in 19th-century Cuba. Professor Hernández will be introduced by Professor Lourdes Gil. 

THIS EVENT WILL BE IN SPANISH.

A reception will follow the lecture.
