"The Patterns and Economic Returns to Job Mobility by Race/Ethnicity and Immigration Status in the United States"
Abstract: The U.S. labor markets have witnessed two trends: job mobility has increased and the labor market has become increasingly diverse along the lines of race/ethnicity and nativity. The present study seeks to integrate the two trends and examine how the rate of job mobility (defined as change of employer) and wage return to job mobility vary by race/ethnicity and nativity. Data are from four panels of the Survey of Income and Program Participation between 1996 and 2011. Results based on growth curve modeling suggest that ethnic minorities and immigrants have different experiences from the native-born white population.
