Baruch’s Fine and Performing Arts Department/Weissman School of Arts and Sciences present Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night’s Dream directed by Christopher Scott. The Bard's farcical, trippy tale of love gone haywire where mortals mix it up with magical beings in a world filled with death threats, drugs, beastiality and broken hearts played out to a 1980’s playlist. This contemporary spin starts in “Athens” the suburbs of NYC and ends up where everyone gets lost in "The Wild Woods” of the East Village where they encounter Glam Punk/ Downtown New York Street Art Scene fairies in the dark, dangerous and magical East Village a long, long time before gentrification. In the end: "Jack shall have Jill; Nought shall go ill; The man shall have his mare again, and all shall be well."
