Chronicle of Return: Life Histories of Jews in the GDR (1989/93)
Presented with the Sandra Kahn Wasserman Jewish Studies Center
The stories of Berlin Jews who emigrated from Germany during the war and returned to the GDR afterward. The documentary revisits them after unification, when they again find themselves in a "new Germany."
Post-film discussion with Jeffrey Peck (co-creator of Chronicle of Return and former Dean of Baruch’s Weissman College of Arts & Sciences), Frank Mecklenburg (Director of Research and Chief Archivist at Leo Baeck Institute), Albert Scharenberg (Rosa Luxembourg Foundation), and Katherine Pence (Associate Professor and Chair of German and women’s history at Baruch College). Jessica Lang (Associate Professor of English and Director of the Sandra Kahn Wasserman Jewish Studies Center at Baruch College) will moderate.
