About the Program:

Join NYCIGF@Baruch as we welcome Earl Carr, Vice President for International Research at Momentum Advisors. Mr. Carr will explore topics from his recent article published in Financial Planning magazine entitled, “Will the Coronavirus have a material impact on client portfolios?”. Mr. Carr will explain why the impact of the COVID-19 emergency is drastically different from the 2003 SARS crisis; examine the different considerations of US investor verse their Chinese based counterparts; detail how specific industry sectors are at greater risk than others.

About the Speaker:

Mr. Carr possesses over twenty years of experience working in both the private sector and non-profit business organizations. Currently, Earl works as a Vice President for International Research at Momentum Advisors, an international wealth management firm where his mandate is to develop and implement the global strategy and cross-border business development. He focuses on the nexus of capital markets, public policy, and corporate strategy, to mobilize the power of capital markets. Earl joined Momentum Advisors from Morgan Stanley where he was a Vice President at the Institute for Sustainable Investing (ISI) working as a strategist and thought leader. Mr. Carr is also an Adjunct Professor at New York University where he teaches courses on US-China relations and US Foreign policy on Cross-Straits Relations to graduate students at The NYU School of Professional Studies (Center for Global Affairs). Mr. Carr received his undergraduate degree from The College of William & Mary (Williamsburg, VA) majoring in International Relations. He has studied abroad in China, Taiwan, and Japan (Beijing Normal University, Suzhou University, Taipei Language Institute (Taiwan) and International Christian University, Tokyo Japan) before obtaining his Master’s degree in International Affairs from American University.

Outside of work, Mr. Carr is involved in the Council on Foreign Relations. Earl is also a member of The National Committee on United States-China Relations (NCUSCR). He is an International Career Advancement Program (ICAP) Fellow, Kim Koo Fellow at the Korea Society, and is involved in The New Canaan Society (NCS) and a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He has been quoted and or published articles in The Mckinsey Quarterly, Financial Planning Magazine, Phoenix TV, South China Morning Post, and most recently has been invited to write a monthly column at Forbes.com.
