Event Description:

When Truth is Not Enough

Written by Susan Charlotte

Directed  by Antony Marsellis

Mon Nov 5, 2012 at 7pm

A reading of the compelling dramatic play “When Truth is Not Enough” written by the award-winning playwright Susan Charlotte and directed by Antony Marsellis will be presented at 7pm on Monday, November 5, 2012 in the Engelman Recital Hall at Baruch Performing Arts Center, co-presented by Clause Celebre, in association with Mary J. Davis.

Antony Marselis will direct the reading.  Antony Marselis directed the critically-acclaimed Susan Charlotte play “The Shoemaker”, which ran to positive reviews at the Acorn Theater on Theater Row off-Broadway in 2011, and featured the academy award nominated actor Danny Aiello.

Susan Charlotte’s new play “When Truth is Not Enough” will be read at Baruch Performing Arts Center the night before the presidential general elections, and the timing could not be better.  The play is about voter suppression, and it takes place in Philadelphia during the present time with three characters, one setting, and many facets of the truth.

Three people from three completely different backgrounds struggle with a question that seems to be so prevalent now – when is truth not enough?  All three characters live in a world where they feel paralyzed by the limitations that life presents and must decide if they want to simply give up, or face these challenges and move forward.

This new play is filled with layers of contradiction, such as the truth vs. lies, peace vs. violence, and fragility vs. aggression. This one-act play will have people talking for weeks, and months, to come.  Please join BPAC for a very special occasion, and completely free admission.
