Event Description:
Baruch College faculty, students, and staff will convene in a Town Hall
Taking a Breath: Baruch College Town Hall Dialogue
to discuss the rulings and implications behind the Michael Brown and Eric Garner rulings.

Engage in open conversation with members of the community as we work to find meaning behind these issues. A panel of Baruch Faculty and Staff will contribute their expertise and knowledge to the discussion.

Clarence Taylor, Ph.D – Prof. Taylor conducts research and teaches on modern civil rights and black power movements, African-American religion, and the modern history of New York City.

Johanna Fernandez, Ph.D – Prof. Fernandez conducts research and teaches on the subject of activism regarding mass incarceration of African-Americans, police misconduct, and the stop and frisk practices of the NYPD.

Glenn Petersen, Ph.D – Prof. Petersen is the Chair of the Sociology and Anthropology departments. He provides insight and teachings on ways to effectively give voice and contribute toward meaningful change.

Kieran Morrow, JD – Baruch Chief Diversity Officer with extensive legal experience in issues surrounding diversity, employment and labor law. Her understanding of the legal system will provide a deeper understanding of the grand jury process.

Sana Reynolds, Ph.D
– Professor Reynolds will be moderating this discussion. Her expertise and teachings are on cross-cultural and organizational communication, and coaching.

There will be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions and voice their concerns during this session. Be a part of change and learn how you can make a difference.
