Arthur W. Apter received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees, both in
mathematics, from MIT in 1975 and 1978, respectively. He is a mathematical
logician, with a specialization in set theory (specifically large cardinals
and forcing, but he maintains a buregeoning interest in inner model theory,
as well). He works actively with graduate students in set theory, both
in the United States and abroad. Since December 1, 1995, he has been
the Principal Investigator under several NSF grants which support the
operation of the Mid-Atlantic Mathematical Logic Seminar (MAMLS), a
continuing series of conferences in mathematical logic.
