The Transfer Student Experience

The Transfer Student Experience

Your education at Baruch College will open many doors. On the path to graduation, you will have to meet the challenges of a demanding educational curriculum. We will offer you a wide range of supportive services to guide you through this journey.

Take advantage of our academic support services

At Baruch there are a number of resources you can turn to when you need academic help. Check out the Student Academic Consulting Center (SACC) and the Writing Center. These services are in place to help you succeed.

Become familiar with Baruch’s academic policies

Take the opportunity to read over the Baruch Student Planner and Handbook as well as the Baruch College Undergraduate Bulletin to familiarize yourself with Baruch’s academic policies, especially regarding its policy on academic integrity, probation and the appeals process. Track your GPA (grade point average) every semester. This will allow you to keep apprised of your academic standing (you must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA to be in good standing).

Set clear goals for yourself

Set a benchmark for yourself with each course you take. Ask yourself, what do I know coming into this class and what do I hope to know by the time I complete this course? How will connecting with classmates and the professor help? What other resources can I take advantage of to get the most out of my experience? Your success or failure in a course depends on your efforts. Make sure you pace yourself so that you don’t get overwhelmed with last minute exams and papers.

Make connections

Take this opportunity to expand your intellectual horizons and explore areas of study out of sheer curiosity. Take advantage not only of all the support services the College has to offer, but get connected with one another, the faculty, and the larger Baruch family of alumni and supporters.
