Biography

Luz Rodriguez is the founder and principal ally of Visionary Allies Consulting specializing in all aspects of nonprofit fundraising, including prospect research, strategic fundraising and grant writing. She is a leadership coach and mentor to many social change agents. Prior to launching her private practice, she served as Senior Director of Sustainability & Growth at Youth INC where she managed a capacity-building grant portfolio and training programs in fundraising, board advancement and succession planning for youth-serving organizations. Luz spent the previous 13 years at the Foundation Center as its New York Lead and Training Specialist where she designed and delivered fundraising & philanthropy training, throughout the U.S. and across borders in regions such as Mexico, Puerto Rico, Colombia and Nigeria.

Luz is a regular faculty member and course developer at the Artist as Entrepreneur Institute in Broward County, an adjunct professor at Alfred University Graduate School of Counseling, advisory board member of the Puerto Rican Institute for the Development of the Arts (PRIDA), and a board member of Global Humanitaria.

Luz holds a Master of Science in Nonprofit Leadership from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Science degree from NYU. She was awarded a Windcall Residency for her social justice advocacy, and as a result of her leadership role as co-founder of SisteSong WOmen of Color Reproductive Justice Collective, her oral history and papers are preserved in the “Voices of Feminism” WOmen History Archives at Smith College.
