Bernard Baruch

The Baruchiana Collection

Bernard Baruch, an 1889 graduate of City College, was a generous benefactor to the college which now bears his name. Our collection contains photographs, memorabilia, books, speeches, and other materials about Bernard Baruch and his family. Some of the material is described below; for further information about these or other Baruch materials, please contact Prof. Sandra Roff at the Baruch College Archives.

Further Resources

  • Professor Stan Altman, formerly interim President and Dean of Baruch College served on an advisory board to create a website that provides a history of Bernard Baruch’s family and the story of his home in South Carolina, Hobcaw Barony. Ms. Betsy Newman, a producer at South Carolina Educational Television, led the project. The website is still a work in progress that introduces us to the area which was originally home to Native American and later to slaves and their descendants. Please visit the Hobcaw Barony project page for more information.
