- NYC Geodatabase - This new, public resource provides many useful features and neighborhood-level census data for the City. An MS Access version for ArcGIS and an open source SQLite version for QGIS are available for download.
- NYC Transit Data Updated - Updated features (as of 2012) for buses, subways, and regional rail are now available to current Baruch students, faculty, and staff in shapefile format by request.
- New GIS Practicum Manual - the latest version of the GIS Practiucm Manual is now available online. Revised and updated for QGIS 1.8x, this tutorial introduces users to GIS using open source software. The tutorial was completely restructured and ported from HTML to PDF / LaTeX.

- ESRI VC Updated - the list of ESRI Virtual Campus courses has been expanded and updated. Current Baruch students, faculty, and staff can take these free, on-line, self-paced tutorials in ArcGIS.
- Geoportal Update - The focus of the Geoportal has narrowed to concentrate on providing access to datasets and maps. For information about software, educational opportunities, facilities, and library resources consult the new GIS subject guide.
- Mapping for Social Policy - PAF 9600 Mapping for Social Policy will be offered in the Spring of 2011 and will provide hands-on experience with ArcGIS. Click here to view the flier.
- NYMAG 2006-2008 - An updated version of the New York Metropolitan ACS Geodatabase is now available for download. The database contains 2006-2008 data and additional features for NYC thematic mapping.
- NYC Transportation Data - Routes and station features for buses, subways, trains (passenger and freight), and trucks from Halcrow Inc. are now available to current Baruch students, faculty, and staff in shapefile format by request.
- ESRI Datasets - The ESRI datasets have been updated. The 2006 ESRI 9.2 data has been replaced with 2008 ESRI 9.3 data.
- NY Metro Area Geodatabase - The library is pleased to announce the release of the NY Metro Area ACS geodatabase. This geodatabase contains US Census American Community Survey data from 2005-2007 at the PUMA level for the entire metro area.
- Baruch Geoportal Goes Public - The Baruch Geoportal (formerly the Baruch Geoserver) is now a public website that can be accessed from anywhere.
- GIS Courses Fall 2009 - An undergraduate Info Studies topics course, Geographic Information: Literacy and Systems (LIB 3010), and a graduate GIS course, Map Making for Public Policy (PAF 9600) will be offered in the fall.
- Columbia Gazetteer of the World - The library has a trial subscription for this database until May 23, 2009. Access it on campus from the library's databases list, note the login information listed in the description, connect to the db, and enter that login info in the gazetteer to get full access. Send comments to the geospatial librarian.
- Geoportal Launched - The Baruch Geoportal will be officially launched on January 5th, 2009
