Rising STARR Sophomore Program
We help students develop career competencies which will help them to achieve their career goals
The Rising Starr Sophomore Program was recognized with the Alva C. Cooper Award in 2013. The program was created to encourage students from all majors and interests to gain a head start in their career development while also meeting the increasing demands in the marketplace to identify and develop early leaders.

Sophomores will "Discover and Connect" with the Starr Career Development Center for one semester by participating in an intensive leadership development program. While the first year in college is focused on transitioning into college, sophomores can use their second year by maximizing their resources on campus. Sophomores will be given the opportunity to engage in activities that develop their communication, leadership and team work skills.

The program will help students explore major and career interests and prepare them for work and leadership roles by providing a set of interdisciplinary, structured on and off campus learning experiences culminating in the award of a certificate. Student will also be considered for opportunities in their fields of interest having been identified as early leaders.
Passport to Partnership
Through this academic year-long program (Passport to Partnership or “P2P”), sophomores and juniors will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of career development events and activities that will enhance communication and leadership skills. Participants will learn more about the accounting profession through company site visits, on-campus presentations and mentoring.
