Message From The Provost - Baruch College

To: The Baruch Campus Community

Dear Friends,

On July 1 we welcome Dean Fenwick Huss to Baruch College as Dean of the Zicklin School of Business and Professor of Accountancy.  I was excited to share the news of his appointment with you in late March, and my enthusiasm is unabated.  I look forward to joining Fenwick and the Zicklin faculty as we all work toward enhancing student learning and faculty scholarship, as well as building on the spirit and talent of our tremendous staff and alumni.

Let me restate some of the reasons why Fenwick Huss has the perspective and experience to lead Zicklin:

He has served as an academic leader in a public, doctoral-granting business school that serves a diverse, urban student body.  There are not many business schools that fit this profile, with Georgia State, Houston and Florida International among the select few.

At Georgia State, Dean Huss led the development of innovative graduate programs at both master’s and doctoral levels, on campus, at off-site locations, and in partnership with firms and organizations.  We seek to refresh our graduate offerings with an eye to the marketplace, and to enhance enrollment.  Fenwick will engage our faculty as we make this happen.

Two key strategic college goals involve on-line teaching and learning and globalization.  While we will commit resources to both of these, Fenwick has developed international programs and activities at Georgia State that have multiple facets, goals, and outcomes.

Finally, he understands both student and faculty issues in public institutions of higher ed., and he has worked effectively with college staff for his entire career.  He knows that students, faculty, and staff each want to be successful, and what “success” means in each context.

Please join me as we welcome Fenwick warmly to Zicklin, Baruch, and New York City.

David P. Christy

Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
