Hidden Gems
New York City (NYC)
McGraw-Hill Waterfall Tunnel
McGraw-hill a company well known by college students for publishing textbooks has an architectural hidden gem on its premises that every New Yorker should see once in their life time. At the McGraw-Hill Building there is a plexiglass tunnel that runs beneath a manmade waterfall located between 48th and 49th street on 6th avenue. The building itself is 205 meters tall which provides shade for the landscaped public passageway on the west side of the tower. There, you will find the Waterfall Tunnel. Passing underneath a waterfall as the water falls against the clear plexiglass without the need of a raincoat is a unique and soothing experience.
