Greenacre Park Hidden Waterfall
The last thing you'd expect to find in the middle of New York City is a 25 foot waterfall, but in fact, this is exactly what you can find in the Eastside of Manhattan. This awe-inspiring waterfall offers a great place to grab a coffee and hide away from the city for even just a few minutes. The park is set back a little off the street and crashing waters block out the traffic and street noise, which may make you forget that you are in New York City. The 60 by 120 feet park was founded by Abby Rockefeller Mauzé and opened to the public in 1971. It was named one of the best parks in the world by Project for Public Spaces. The privately owned public park is immaculate with honey locust trees, wooden tables, flowerbeds, a small stream, and a waterfall. You can visit Greenacre Park by taking the 6 train to 51st street. The park is located at 217 E. 51st St. (between Second and Third Avenues).
