Professors Win Jesse Burkhead Award for Collaborative Work

NEW YORK, NY- June 4, 2014 – Baruch College’s Daniel W. Williams, Associate Professor with the School of Public Affairs, and Joseph Onochie, Associate Professor of Finance with the Zicklin School of Business, were recently awarded the Jesse Burkhead Award for their collaborative work on the article, “The Rube Goldberg Machine of Budget Implementation, or Is There a Structural Deficit in the New York City Budget?,” published in the Public Budgeting & Finance, Vol. 33, Number 4.

Each author receives a $2,000 honorarium that they can choose to receive during the annual conference of the Association for Budgeting and Financial Management or at the Symposium of the American Association for Budget and Program Analysis – both happening in the fall.

The Board of Directors of Public Financial Publications, Inc. presents this award each year to recognize the best article published in Public Budgeting & Finance. The award is named after Jesse Burkhead, who is known for his distinguished career as Professor of Economics and Public Administration at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University and for serving as editor of Public Budgeting & Finance during its early years.
