Baruch College Celebrates Its 45th Commencement Exercises
On Tuesday, June 1, 2010, Baruch College honored the 4,184 members of its 2010 graduating class with a commencement ceremony at Madison Square Garden. Baruch College President Stan Altman bestowed 2,941 undergraduate and 1,243 graduate degrees that day. The ceremony featured remarks from salutatorian Aysegul Ekmekci and valedictorian Veronika Ilyuk as well as an address from former Governor Mario Cuomo, this year’s commencement speaker. In addition, five members of the Baruch College faculty were honored for outstanding achievement: T.K. Das, professor of management; Bert Hansen, professor of history; Cynthia Whittaker, professor and chairperson of the Department of History; Dr. Ramzi Khuri, professor of physics; and Anna Shostya, professor of micro and macro economics. The College also bestowed an honorary degree to Donald Rubin, co-founder and CEO of the Rubin Museum of Art, whose philanthropic activities promote the arts, liberty, and social justice.
