NOTE: An updated manual for QGIS 3.4 and new software links will be posted by the end of April 2019.

This manual is used in the day-long workshop held at Baruch each semester, which is open to Baruch and CUNY affiliates. For more information and registration visit the practicum page on the GIS Research Guide

Introduction to GIS Using Open Source Software

8th 9th edition (July 2017Apr 2019)

QGIS example

The manual was written for QGIS version 2.18 (Las Palmas), which is the curent Long Term Release version. Because there are enough differences between versions you should download and install 2.18 if you are taking the workshop.

The QGIS website gives you the option to download the Latest Release or Long Term Release - this workshop always uses the Long Term Release. 2.18 Las Palmas  3.4 Madeira is currently the LTR release. Once QGIS transitions to using 3.4 Madeira as the LTR in spring 2019 the manual be revised to use the new version.
