Event Description: The new "ART SPEAKS JUSTICE" program series highlights the intersection of art with important social justice issues affecting the public.The program, sponsored by the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences will introduce a versatile panel of experts from the WSAS faculty, Baruch Performing Arts Center and the Mishkin Gallery. The panel will address the synergy and impact of the arts on issue of public concern.
Art Speaks Justice looks at the artist message in context with the program discussion to give the audience a substantive, engaging perspective on the topic explored. On Thursday, October 24th, the first program will discuss "The Climate Change Crisis". The program will feature Dr. Chester Zarnoch, Professor of Environmental Studies and Biology; Gisele Regatao, Assistant Professor of Journalism and multimedia journalist who has reported and edited stories for podcasts, radio, online and print publications internationally and a brief video narrated by Alaina Feldman, Director and Curator of the Baruch Mishkin Gallery on the video installation works of Minerva Cuevas: Disidencia, currently showing in the gallery. The program will be moderated by Dean Aldemaro Romero Jr. of the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences, the author of 30 books. |
