Attend this session to learn about the program, requirements, application and admissions process for SAM Citywide in Baruch College's School of Public Affairs.

The Scaffolded Apprenticeship Model (SAM) achieves school improvement through leadership development that involves teams of educators in strategic, inquiry-based research to improve the instructional systems that limit student success. Longitudinal external evaluation of the SAM program in New York City demonstrates its success in improving student outcomes at the school level: schools with 3+ years of involvement and commitment to the model bring significantly more struggling students on track to graduation than similar schools without the SAM intervention. It brings significant and lasting shifts in school culture as well, developing shared accountability, evidence-based practice and distributed leadership across these schools.

Encompass New Opera Theatre presents a new comic opera

Sung in ENGLISH

A WAKE OR A WEDDING by Richard Pearson Thomas is a sparkling, fast-paced, and hilarious new opera that will keep you laughing from start to finish.

Eight delightful and eccentric characters take you on an effervescent musical journey to Montana in 1898, where Pierpont Mackerel Davenport, ruthless copper King, has dropped dead on the eve of his daughter’s wedding. The topsy-turvy household is shaken up by the arrival of Marcella Sorella, Opera Diva extraordinaire and her cohort, Egyptian Tenor Raimondo Vecchiofaraone, is he from Cairo, Egypt or Cairo, Illinois? Surprise relationships are revealed, whereby art meets life, the tables are turned, and all characters reveal their true identities. Imagine if the TV show DALLAS was mixed with a Chekhov comedy, but set in the Old West to a lyric opera score. That will give you some idea of the operatic pleasures that await you.
