Black History Month Closing Ceremony

Event Description:
The closing ceremony is a time to reflect, remember, and inspire the Baruch commuinty to action. Join the BHM committee in room 750 of the Library Building for a dinner with guest speaker, Carrie Solages, Nassau County Legislator, who will share thoughts on the evolution of the civil rights movement and its impact on modern day America.


Legislator Carrié Solages (D-Elmont) represents the 3rd Legislative District comprised of Elmont, Franklin Square, North Valley Stream, Bellerose Terrace, South Floral Park, and portions of Valley Stream and West Hempstead. Carrié, a lifelong Elmont resident, graduated from H. Frank Carey High School in Franklin Square. Carrie holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and a Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School.

Location: The William and Anita Newman Library, 151 East 25th Street, between Lexington & Third Avenues on the North side of 25th street. Room 750
