Slate’s podcast miniseries Slow Burn has struck a chord. The story of Watergate, the scandal that brought down a president, feels exciting, timely, and relevant in a way few decades-old political episodes ever will. Since the launch of Episode 1 and its rapid rise to the top of the iTunes charts, the podcast has sparked intriguing conversations about the role of the media, Congress, and the public in watching and eventually addressing the corruption coming from the White House. In his reporting, host Leon Neyfakh talked to both prominent and inconspicuous actors who were involved in uncovering or reporting on Watergate. Now he’ll lead a conversation with a group of those people and leading political journalists of today to discuss the enduring themes of the Watergate era.
Join us for this special event featuring award-winning author Gail Sheehy, contributing editor at WIRED and cohost of Slate’s Trumpcast Virginia Heffernan, and more to be announced soon. We’ll convene for conversation at 7 pm.
