"University-City Relations:How Can They Mutually Benefit From Pooled Resources"

In keeping with the findings and issues raised in Steven Diner’s book “Universities and Their Cities: Urban Higher Education in America". The author explores the role of Higher Education in advancing economic and social justic relations. The panel will discuss how a stronger university/city collaboration involving pooling vast   resources can significantly benefit both citizens and government services. An enhanced alliance of Cities/Universities can be a bold step toward rethinking how to advance needed local changes and advancements. Featuring author Steven Diner, former Rutgers University Newark Chancellor; Maryanne Schretzman, Director of the Center for Innovation Through Data Intelligence- NYC Mayor's Office and Kenneth J. Knuckles, President and CEO of the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone Development Corp and Vice Chairman of the City Planning Commission.

Join the Conversation Partners Program NOW! 

Sept. 9th Deadline.
We match native and nonnative speakers of English for informal conversations to help nonnative students gain confidence in English and navigate local culture. By practicing English outside of the classroom and speaking with native English speakers, nonnative speakers can improve English proficiency. At the same time, both native and nonnative speakers can expand their cultural knowledge, make friends, and build a network of professional contacts.

To apply, please fill out the 
Application Form. Participants should be willing to commit to meeting their partner seven times per semester for about one hour.
