 Please join the Confucius Institute for Global Finance as we welcome financial industry veteran Mr. Les Seff for The Evolution of NASDAQ, the first seminar of spring 2018. Mr. Seff will take us on a journey from the opening of the first electronic stock market in 1971, to the NASDAQ of today, concluding with a look into the future NASDAQ of the coming decades. Along the way, he will detail watershed moments including the 1987 crash, the dot-com era peak, and the brave new world of high frequency trading.
About the Speaker:
Les Seff is Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer of AIMPaaS, Alternative Investment Management Platform as a Service. He is also the President of Matthew B. Management, Inc., where he has been involved in several high-profile financial fraud cases, as a consultant or an expert.
Mr. Seff has worked in the financial service industry for about 34 years, most of which occurred in a trading environment where he started and managed NASDAQ and other equity trading departments at wholesale firms, retail/institutional firms, discount brokerage firms, and proprietary trading firms.
During mid-1990s, he ran the NASDAQ Trading Department of Fidelity Investments, a unit which he started at Wagner Stott & Co., and subsequently managed at Fidelity, the world's largest mutual fund company at the time. At Fidelity, he was also in charge of the department which executed all customer and correspondent orders in NASDAQ securities, and vetted various execution destinations on behalf of Fidelity.
Mr. Seff graduated cum laude, with high honors, from Hofstra University, and received an MBA from Bernard Baruch College, City University of New York.
