"A wistful ode to a lost generation of leaders who viewed simplicity as a virtue even as they strove for giant goals." - The New York Times
Filmmakers Yael Perlov and Yariv Mozer accidentally discovered six hours of unseen footage of an interview with David Ben-Gurion, which provides some of the material for this film, along with 80 hours of other footage scoured by the filmmakers. “This interview allows you to touch history as if you were living it,” Perlov explains (www.haaretz.com). The footage was originally filmed as material for a film directed by Perlov’s father, David, and was thought to be lost for good. In the film, Ben-Gurion reflects on the past and seems to dismiss the idea that one person alone can accomplish change. The stark contrasts between Ben-Gurion’s leadership and character compared to the leadership of present-day Israel has ignited a new interest in the life of Ben-Gurion.
