Event Description: This spotlight presentation provides an overview of fellowships in public service and civic engagement such as the Truman Scholarship and the NYC Urban Fellows Program. There are fellowships and scholarships to help pay for graduate school; to fund professional development opportunities through internships; to volunteer; to teach abroad; and to work for the good of your community. The session offers advice on selecting a fellowship opportunity; and gives suggestions on competition strategies.
The Harry S. Truman Scholarship provides funding for graduate school as preparation for a career in government or public service. Truman Scholars participate in leadership development programs & have special opportunities for internships & employment with the federal government. U.S. citizens & nationals who are in their junior year of full time undergraduate study are eligible to apply.
The NYC Urban Fellows Program is designed to introduce America's finest college students and graduates to local government and public service. It is a nine month fellowship that provides recipients an opportunity to work in government or city agencies. All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend. |
