Event Description:

The Department of Modern Languages of the Weissman School of Arts & Science at Baruch College is pleased to host the
International Conference on
LANGUAGE, DIALECT AND VANISHING TONGUES 


Thursday and Friday, September 1st and 2nd in the Newman Vertical Campus, room V6-210 from 9:30 – 5:00 each day.

 

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Minoru Ohtsuki, Dean of the Graduate School of Daito Bunka University, Tokyo, Japan, who will speak about Language and Linguistic Variation.

Other presenters will discuss other languages, like Quechua in Peru, Nahuatl in Mexico, Shanghai dialect in China, Hebrew in Croatia.

 

Meetings are open and free to CUNY faculty, staff and students. Daily lunch 12:15 – 2:15 at cost at local restaurants. A wine and cheese party, and mini-concert of classical music will conclude the Thursday session.
