Event Description:
Join us for an expert discussion on Afghanistan. How did we get here? Has the United States made the right choices? What lies ahead?
The Baruch College Department of Political Science invites you to a roundtable discussion with a group of distinguished panelists on the War in Afghanistan. Join us as we explore both what's happened so far in Afghanistan and what may come next.
Our panel will answer questions including: Was withdrawal from Afghanistan the right choice? What were the alternatives? Why did the Afghan government collapse so quickly? What were the successes and failures over the last twenty years in Afghanistan? What lies ahead for Afghanistan under Taliban rule?
Our expert panel includes:
- Mr. Jason Campbell: Policy researcher at the RAND Corporation. Former Country Director for Afghanistan in the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Policy.
- Dr. David Katz: Retired U.S. Foreign Service officer. Former State Department Senior Advisor to the the U.S. Army's Peacekeeping & Stability Operations Institute and former Deputy Director of the ISAF Force Reintegration Cell in Kabul, Afghanistan.
- Dr. Ahmad Qais Munhazim: Assistant Professor of Global Studies at Thomas Jefferson University.
- Dr. Tazreena Sajjad: Senior Professorial Lecturer in the School of International Service at American University. Author of Transitional Justice in South Asia: A Study of Afghanistan and Nepal.
The discussion will be moderated by Dr. David Lindsey of the Baruch College Department of Political Science.
