Event Description:
The CUNY Institute for Demographic Research (CIDR) presents the next in our series of demography seminars:

Dr. Julien Teitler
Professor of Social Work and Sociology, Columbia University

"Disparities in Cardiovascular Health and Functional Well-being Across the Life Span"

Abstract: Most studies of health trajectories focus on self-rated health, activity limitations, or diagnosed conditions, making it impossible to disentangle differences in: (1) the presence of conditions; (2) diagnosis, given conditions; (3) treatment, given diagnosis; and (4) functional limitations. This project compares socioeconomic gradients in health at each of the four stages, and over the lifecourse, focusing specifically on cardiovascular disease in the U.S.

Location: The CUNY Graduate Center - 365 5th Avenue, Room 9206

Pre-Seminar: We will meet at NOON to have lunch with the speaker at the CUNY Graduate Center cafeteria (8th floor). Everyone is welcome to join the lunch and/or seminar.

Post-Seminar: CIDR fellows are strongly encouraged to meet with the speaker after the seminar to discuss his work further and consult about graduate school, research, job market, career, etc.
