Event Description:
Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) announces the 2014 Play Reading Series on Monday, June 9, Monday, June 16, and Monday, June 23 at 7pm. Tickets are free and may be reserved by emailing or phoning the TRU message line at 212-714-7628. For more information visit

Each reading will be followed by a wine and cheese reception and “Dollars and Sense” panel discussion with prominent New York producers, general managers and artistic directors focusing on potential venues, marketing and budgeting of the works presented.

Monday, June 9, 7pm: Good to Go by Craig Garcia, produced by Tim O’Brien

Good To Go is about a young man who is building a life - he’s married, an Iraq war vet - who finds he only has a short time to live.  Basic civil laws and morality start to loosen their grip on him. He decides this moment is his opportunity to rectify a crime. To right a wrong. The play challenges us to question: What would you do when the rules are suddenly re-written? Can a life be given a second chance? Even a life about to end?

Monday, June 16, 7pm: The Empty Nesters, by Garret Jon Groenveld, produced by Molly Morris, directed by Martin Platt

When Greg and Frances drop their youngest child off at college in Arizona, they take a little vacation to the Skywalk at the Grand Canyon West on their way back to Los Angeles. Faced with the prospect of an empty home, these helicopter parents are faced with the question, "What do you want to be when they grow up?" A light drama exploring that unspoken period between when your kids leave and before you become grandparents.

Monday, June 23, 7pm: Vacancies, by Jonathan Ehrlich, produced by Dolly Williams and Kevin Lambert, directed by Kevin Lambert

Mistaken identities, a captivating stranger, and long-lived deceptions set the carefully planned wedding of Jacob and Kate spinning in unexpected new directions.  When their rehearsal dinner veers off course, Jacob finds himself becoming an escort for the evening, forcing Kate to seek answers to questions she had blissfully been avoiding.  But when lies are finally cast aside, the truth leaves emotional vacancies that can’t always be filled with love.
