"Latinos and the Endangered Right to Vote" the consequence of  recent policy changes on minority and particularly Latino voters. Featuring Juan Cartagena is one of the nation's leading voices on equality and nondiscrimination who has successfully used the law to effectuate systems change for the benefit of marginalized communities. A dynamic public speaker, seasoned litigator and educator Mr. Cartagena is currently the President and General Counsel of LatinoJustice PRLDEF a national civil rights public interest law office that represents Latinas and Latinos throughout the country.

In keeping with the findings and issues raised in Steven Diner’s book “Universities and Their Cities: Urban Higher Education in America". The author explores the role of Higher Education in advancing economic and social justic relations. The panel will discuss how a stronger university/city collaboration involving pooling vast   resources can significantly benefit both citizens and government services. An enhanced alliance of Cities/Universities can be a bold step toward rethinking how to advance needed local changes and advancements. Featuring author Steven Diner, former Rutgers University Newark Chancellor; Maryanne Schretzman, Director of the Center for Innovation Through Data Intelligence- NYC Mayor's Office and Kenneth J. Knuckles, President and CEO of the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone Development Corp and Vice Chairman of the City Planning Commission.

The Summer 2017 Academic Intensive English Program (AIEP) begins on Monday, June 26!

The AIEP is designed to prepare non-native speakers for university or graduate school in the United States. Students in this full-time program may qualify for an F-1 international student visa.  Conditional admission to Baruch’s undergraduate and graduate programs is available.
