Event Description:
The Global Student Certificate Program at the Weissman Center for International Business presents the second series of masterclasses in the arts, A Tour of the World in Six Artworks.

This series of 6 masterclasses by art historians will connect world cultures with the fine arts, to see if we can find an alternate way to become globally-accomplished students. For Baruch students who wish to in order to operate at the highest echelons of business and industry, a working knowledge of art history and culture will be indispensable.

The first event in the 2021-22 series is given by Prof. John Maciuika, Baruch College/CUNY Graduate Center Professor of Art History

"How Do You Gain Independence When You Have Lost Your Freedom?: The Case of Architecture at Lazdynai, Lithuania, 1962-1974." 

Prof. Maciuika will introduce us to how our very living spaces affect our actions. "How Do You Gain Independence When You Have Lost Your Freedom?: The Case of Architecture at Lazdynai, Lithuania, 1962-1974." This lecture is based on material from his recent book, Lithuanian Architects Assess the Soviet Era: The 1992 Oral History Tapes (Vilnius: LAPAS Press, 2020).
