All Day NCCP9030 - The Future of Blueprint Reading (Multi-Day Event)
The word "blueprint" makes us think of white line drawings on a deep blue background showing beautiful old buildings, or ships, or historic city plans. This introductory course visits the development of blueprints within the construction industry, and shows the student what to expect in a contemporary construction drawing set, and how to understand scale and symbols in drawings. There is hands-on experience with drawing simple scaled drawings. The later lessons in this course review the place of CADD and more advanced 3-D and intelligent building modeling as "blueprints" morph in the world of e-technology.

The show will open on September 10 and run through December 1 at the New Media Artspace gallery in Baruch’s Library and Information Building, 151 E. 25th Street. While NeoGeo explores the Deep Time of the geologic record, Landfill Club, is a social practice project that "drills up" into future Deep Time.

The New Media Artspace is a teaching exhibition space in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts at Baruch College, CUNY. Housed in the Newman Library, the New Media Artspace showcases curated experimental media and interdisciplinary artworks by international artists, students, alumni, and faculty. Professor Bender’s research and teaching interests focus on Irish literature and culture in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. She is currently completing a book entitled Israelites in Erin: Biblical Analogy and National Identity in the Irish Revival, which will be published by Syracuse University Press.

Professor Bender has been an invited speaker at the Columbia University Irish Studies Seminar, The James Joyce Summer School in Dublin, and the New York Public Library.
