New York, NY - October 27, 2016 - Baruch College’s Master’s of Financial Engineering Program (MFE) was ranked #1 in the 2017 QuantNet selection of “Best Master Programs in  MFE programs” throughout the United States and Canada. This top ranking, which ties with Carnegie Mellon University and University of California, Berkeley, surpasses rankings for Columbia University, New York University, University of Chicago, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Throughout the years, Baruch has continued to improve in QuantNet’s evaluations, having ranked #2 in 2015; #4 in 2013; and #5 in 2011.

Baruch’s MFE program also ranked #2 on QuantNet’s list of “Top 10 MFE Programs with Best Employment Outcomes.”

The 2017 QuantNet ranking is considered the most comprehensive ranking to date of master programs in Financial Engineering and Mathematical Finance in North America. For its rankings, it surveys programs administrators, hiring managers, corporate recruiters, and finance professionals to get the information used in the 2017 rankings.

Dr. Dan Stefanica, professor and co-director of Baruch’s MFE program, noted that this top ranking reflects the continued success of the College’s MFE program in prestigious competitions, including the record-breaking win at the premier Rotman International Trading Competition in 2016, which drew teams from 52 universities around the world.

Baruch’s MFE program is part of the Mathematics Department in the Weissman School of Arts & Sciences. A complete list of the QuantNet rankings is here.

Methodology:  From July to September 2016, 30 master programs in Financial Engineering, Mathematical Finance, and Quantitative Finance were surveyed on admission, placement, and career services information.  For more information on the Quantnet’s methodology, see here.
