Weissman Visiting Professorships

Thanks to a generous donation from Mildred and George Weissman, The Weissman School of Arts and Sciences (WSAS) at Baruch College will be able to fund three visiting professorships per year in the following areas: humanities, social sciences and natural sciences/mathematics. Visiting Professors will be considered as working half-time during each of the two semesters that they are in residence at Baruch. The maximum stipend for a one-year visit is $43,879 and $21,939 for a one-semester visit (plus optional fringe benefits). These professorships are intended for faculty on leave or on sabbatical from their home institution. The Visiting Professor will teach one course per semester for two semesters. In addition, the Visiting Professor will engage in other academic activities at Baruch College (such as public lectures, supervision of individual student projects, collaboration with Baruch Colleagues, etc.).

Application must be submitted by the relevant department at the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences via the department chair. Applications may be filed jointly by two or more departments. Once a department submits an application, it is reviewed by the Research and Travel Committee, which makes recommendations to the Dean. The Dean then forwards candidates for appointment to the WSAS Personnel and Budget Committee and then to the Baruch College Personnel and Budget Committee, whose recommendation is advisory to the College President and the CUNY Board of Trustees. Appointments become final upon approval by the CUNY Board of Trustees.

• Application completed by candidate and sponsoring department(s)
• Candidate’s curriculum vitae
• 2 letters of recommendation from experts in the candidate’s field who do not hold Baruch College faculty appointments
• Letter of support from candidate’s current department chair or employer
