Topic:
- What is the overall topic you want to study?
- What organisms do you wish to study?
___________________________________________________________________________________
Hypothesis: State the condition(s) to which you will expose your organism(s) and predict the effect of the condition(s) upon your organism(s).
___________________________________________________________________________________
Plan for Experiment: Materials needed and methods to be used.
- What live materials will you use? How will the conditions to which you expose your organisms vary? What is (are) your control(s)? What chemicals, equipment, environmental conditions (e.g., light, temperature) will you need? Before deciding on the final form of your project, be sure that the materials and equipment you need are available in the department. Consult with your instructor to make sure your project can be completed in the weeks available.
- What kind of data will you collect, and how will you present your data? Will you make measurements? Will you describe appearances; will you take photographs or draw pictures? Will you present tables of data, graph your results?
- What reference materials will you use? In the Discussion section you can tell what conclusions you have reached, whether you have evidence to support or reject your hypothesis, how confident you are in your results, and what problems you encountered that would lead you to do things somewhat differently if you were to repeat your experiment in the future.
