What Is It?
Created in September 1997, CUNY
Lower Manhattan-Downtown Brooklyn Consortium of Foreign Languages seeks to achieve
the goals and objectives of the University's LOTE (Languages Other Than
English) initiative through coordinating foreign language curriculum and
through improving communications and cooperation across Consortium member
colleges and departments. In addition to its effort to improve foreign
language instruction, the Consortium also plays an important role in the
current CUNY attempts to make contacts with the business and professional
community, thereby helping CUNY students to use foreign language skills
to enhance their career possibilities.
The Consortium consists
of Baruch College, Borough
of Manhattan Community College, Hunter
College, John Jay College of Criminal
Justice and New York City Technical
College, with Baruch College being the "home institution."
