Welcome from the Director
Welcome to Baruch College's undergraduate journalism programs. Whether you are interested in majoring in Journalism/Creative Writing or Business Journalism or wish to explore our curriculum as a non-major, our challenging array of courses and superb faculty can help you to:
- improve your writing
- develop your research and reporting skills
- expand your insight into city, state, national and global issues
- increase your knowledge of the worlds of business, politics and the arts
- understand the press's foundational role in democratic society
- better inform yourself by learning how to distinguish between good- and poor-quality journalism, in order to become a more critical consumer of the news.
Our award-winning student magazine, Dollars & $ense, provides our students with the opportunity to have their writing published and to take on editing roles in a highly educational collaboration between undergraduate journalism students, design students and faculty advisors.
Our Harman Writer-in-Residence program brings prominent voices in journalism and literature and writing to our students and to the Baruch College community.
Our internship opportunities allow students to gain reporting and writing experience near and far, from media outlets throughout New York City to news organizations abroad.
Our programs instruct students in the highest ethics and standards in journalism, with ground rules spelled out in Rules of the Road.
