Baruch offers rich opportunities for students interested in theatre. In
addition to course offerings in acting, playwriting, theatre history, and
production, each semester the College sponsors a faculty-directed
production engaging students in every aspect of the theatre experience,
including acting, set construction, lighting, costumes, makeup, and
advertising [Theatre at Baruch]. There are also upper-level opportunities for directing
one-act plays and for training in stage design.
The Liberal Arts Ad Hoc Major in Theatre
Under the guidance of a faculty advisor, students may design an ad hoc
major in theatre as preparation for graduate study or a career in theatre
management or technical production. Course work may include studies in
theatre and dramatic literature as well as in art and/or music. Students
interested in theatre administration may also participate in the Department
of Fine and Performing Arts Internship Program.
Theatre Arts Administration
Students interested in theatre arts administration now have the opportunity
to pursue this specialization in an ad hoc Liberal Arts major in the
